Global Reach and Impact

Client: MIT

Completed: December 2021

Sector: Higher Education, Corporate, Continuing Education

Work: Instructional designer for the MIT xPRO Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality professional course, aimed at professionals exploring emerging technologies.

My roles and responsibilities included:

  • Course Mapping and Design: Collaborating closely with 4 MIT experts and industry leaders, I structured content and designed learner-centered experiences focusing on experiential learning, practical knowledge gain and skill development.

  • Assessment & Evaluation: To accommodate learners from diverse backgrounds, assessments were divided into basic and advanced learning pathways. E.g., Try-It practice: Paper prototype for a basic learning pathway, and viewing it as a 360° prototype on a VR Media Player.
  • VR/AR Prototyping & Development: To create an XR application requires the use of design and development tools from multiple classes: game engines, workflow management, 3D modeling, animation, prototyping, interaction design, sound design, etc. I learned additional technologies to design  the course, game engines such as  Reach and Unity, CoSpaces/Delightex, Qlone photogrammetry app, 360° Video or Spherical VR apps.

  • Collaboration & Project Management: Worked in global interdisciplinary teams (USA and India) that included subject matter experts, videographers, technologists, Quality Matter reviewers, client stakeholders, and junior instructional designers to manage timelines and align project goals with learner outcomes.
